Art Nouveau (Drawings, Vector Illustrations & AI-Generated Art)

Art Nouveau is an ornamental style of art and architecture that emerged in the late 19th century and was popular until around 1914. The style is characterized by its use of organic, flowing lines, often inspired by nature, and a focus on decorative elements over representational forms.

Art nouveau is my favourite style of art and I try to incorporate aspects of it in my work with all kinds of mediums.

I drew this dancing pose from my mind. I wanted her to be wearing a dress with long flowing pieces of fabric that mimicked her long flowy hair, art nouveau style.

I worked on this drawing in my spare time and it took a while to get it this far. I enjoy working in art nouveau style but each line of hair can take a while to get right, it's worth all the effort though.

I originally intended to ink this afterward but I actually quite like the messy pencil look.

If you look at the larger version you can see a few smudges, marks and construction lines etc. that's all part of it.

I was inspired after looking at some beautiful artwork by Selina Fenech so I painted this picture of a dancing girl.

Her flowing hair has an 'art nouveau' feel to it.

There are a few things that I'm not quite happy with but I'm never completely happy about any of my work. I was trying to capture a nice sense of movement and grace and I think I achieved that. For me it feels as if she is about to twirl around at any moment.

I used white gouache for highlights but they didn't come up in this scan. The watercolour paper was perhaps too light.

In this vector illustration I attempted to make the girls hair flow in a circular pattern into the sun.

This is Lyndal the flower girl - part human and part plant. Her hair turns into flowers!

I first drew this picture in pencil then inked it with black felt tip pen. Next I scanned it in black and white and turned it into a vector drawing with CorelTrace.

All the colors were added in CorelDraw.

Angela is James' girlfriend in my cartoon strip Ogga the Cane Toad.

The designs in her hair were inspired by the art nouveau style.

This is an awkwardly drawn picture that was done before I knew anything about anatomy. The only reason why I've included it here is because I love her hair — styled in art nouveau fashion!
